Buddha's Light International Association of Western Australia

 

 

We are a group of lay Buddhists who observe the practice of Humanistic Buddhism in daily life. We are the Western Australian Chapter of the worldwide Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA). Our chapter established in 1993 at Maylands. We support Fo Guang Shan Western Australia (IBAWA), a monastic Buddhist order originated from Taiwan, in promoting Humanistic Buddhism.

 

has been BLIA have been established around the world across five continents. We have chapters in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, UK, Russia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Phillippines, Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Taiwan, India, Brazil, Argentina and South Africa. In 2003, BLIA, is founded by Grand Master Hsing Yun in 1992 at Los Angeles, CA, USA.  Over 100 chapters and 1 millions members, chapters of BLIAOur parent organisation, honored by United Nations, as Non-Governmental Organisation in Special Consultative Status, with UN's two major agencies; ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council of the United Nations) and UNDPI (United Nations Department of Public Information).

 

Our mission is to apply tenets of Humanistic Buddhism to benefit society through promoting education, raising gender equality, providing medical services and emergency relief, and supporting environmental sustainability. Our membership is of diverse ethnic, cultural and linguistic background. Our members and volunteers carry out all services and activities. We have been highly active in celebrating cultural diversity and interfaith dialogue in Western Australia. Aside from major events such as the annual Buddha's Birthday and Multicultural Festival at City of Perth and City of Bayswater, we has been involved in numerious community events and projects demonstrating their commitment to the promotion of cooperation, community understanding and harmony in Western Australia's multicultural society.
